More Insights Into Momentum CFO
Take a look at some of our most frequently asked questions.
What types of businesses do you work with?
We work with two main types of clients. The first are owner-led midsize businesses that have moved beyond the startup stage and now need financial clarity to guide their next phase of growth. These companies typically generate at least $5 million in annual revenue, employ a team of professionals, and have healthy cash flow.
The second are larger organizations that already have accounting staff but limited Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A) capabilities, where deeper forecasting, analysis, and strategic finance are needed to support scaling. We most often work with service-based businesses, and we serve clients nationwide.
What types of business aren’t the best fit for your team?
At Momentum CFO, we value transparency and creating lasting relationships with our clients. Our services are designed for established, growing companies rather than very early-stage startups, small owner-operated businesses that are still bootstrapping, or organizations without reliable cash flow. We also aren’t the best fit for companies seeking only day-to-day accounting services, since our focus is on higher-level finance strategy, forecasting, and performance management. If your business is looking for a partner to build financial clarity, strengthen FP&A capabilities, and guide long-term growth, we’re well aligned.
What types of services do you provide?
We provide Fractional CFO and Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A) consulting services for growing businesses. A Momentum CFO Financial Health Check™ is often the first step, where we evaluate your company’s financial health, share our observations, and create a prioritized action plan.
For owner-led midsize businesses, this typically means building a strong financial foundation with budgeting, forecasting, cash flow management, profitability analysis, and pricing strategy support. For larger organizations with an established accounting team but no finance team, we focus on strengthening FP&A capabilities across four core areas: planning and forecasting, performance management, financial analysis, and decision support.
In every engagement, our goal is to provide Fortune 500–level financial expertise that turns data into insight and strategy into results.
How much do CFO services cost?
We believe CFO services are an investment in your company’s financial future, and our pricing is designed to be transparent and predictable. The Momentum CFO Financial Health Check™, which typically starts at $9,000 and delivers a comprehensive assessment with a prioritized action plan. With that foundation in place, most clients continue with ongoing Fractional CFO or FP&A consulting services at a flat monthly fee, tailored to the size, complexity, and unique needs of their business.
In most cases, we charge flat fees for ongoing services so you always know what to expect. For one-off or exploratory projects where the scope is less defined, we may instead use an hourly rate.
Our clients consistently find that the benefits of stronger financial clarity, planning, and decision support far outweigh the cost.
Do you work onsite or remotely?
We do most of our work remotely, which allows us to serve clients across the United States with ease and efficiency. We use Zoom and other online collaboration tools to make your virtual experience seamless and effective. For clients in the San Diego area, we’re also happy to meet in person at your office or ours when it adds value. Schedule a meeting with us today.
What if I need other accounting and financial services in addition to CFO services?
While we don’t provide bookkeeping, accounting, or tax preparation services, we often act as the quarterback for your broader financial team. We partner closely with your bookkeeper or accounting team, tax preparer, banker, insurance broker, and other professionals to ensure all aspects of your company’s finances work together. If you don’t already have trusted partners in those roles, we can refer you to experienced professionals and help you build the right team for your business.
